Detroit Metal City, 88Graph #3 / Kiminori Wakasugi

This 88Graph features the illustration created for the cover of Volume 10 of Detroit Metal City: Complete Edition.

To bring out the commanding presence of Johannes Krauser II, we applied pearl paint to the black background. His powerful step toward the viewer gives the image a vivid sense of movement. Reflections from the surrounding light heighten the contrast and create depth. Our artisans apply glossy, clear paint by hand to the emblem on each frame to give it a subtle sheen.

We chose a substantial antique gold frame. A touch of red along the cut edge of the mat sharpens the overall composition.
