Kiminori Wakasugi

In 1998, Kiminori Wakasugi received an Encouragement Award in the Young Magazine Monthly Manga Awards.

That same year, he made his debut with Boku no Migite wo Shirimasen ka? (“Have You Seen My Right Hand?”), published in Young Magazine Zokan Aka BUTA by Kodansha.

In 2004, he began his first serialized manga, Amaresu Ken-chan, in Young Magazine Uppers (Kodansha). The following year, he launched Detroit Metal City, a heavy-metal-themed gag manga, in Young Animal (Hakusensha).

Its outrageous dialogue and unforgettable characters quickly attracted attention, particularly online, and the series was adapted into a live-action film in 2008.

His other notable works include KAPPEI, which was adapted into a feature film, and Minna! Esper Dayo!, which was adapted into both a live-action television series and a film.

He is currently serializing Akina-chan Kamigakaru in Gessan (Shogakukan).
